On Monday morning, all of the Sycamore students and many parents came out to the front of the school to wave goodbye to the sixth graders! The bus up to Wrightwood was full of energy, singing, laughing, and excitement! Our first meal in the dining hall included pizza, celery, and brownies for dessert. Many students expressed that the food is much better than they expected! After lunch, the whole group of Sycamore and Vista sixth graders gathered on some log benches under the trees to find out information about their trail groups and activities for the day. Students then met their naturalists for the first time and headed out on the trails to participate in some trust activities. Next, we all enjoyed a dinner of hamburgers (with a vegetarian option, of course), followed by some cabin time. Many of the groups worked on homework from their naturalist in their Outdoor Science School journals, but they did not mind taking a break for a photo op! The evening was wrapped up with a game of eco-Clue, in which groups had to travel to different "ecosystems" in order to find out clues about which predator ate which prey in which ecosystems. It was an action-packed day full of new experiences and new friends. We can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store!
